A counter-offensive by Ukrainian forces and security issues around the Russian-held Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant were the focus of phone talks Tuesday between Italy's premier Mario Draghi and Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky.
"The talks centred on the latest positive developments in the Ukrainian counter-offensive and security at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant," said a statement from Draghi's office.
The phone talks and statement came as Zelensky said on Tuesday that Ukrainian troops have now retaken more than 6,000 square kilometres from Russian control in September in the east and the south.
"Draghi confirmed his government's continuing support for Ukraine's authorities and the Ukrainian population in all areas," the statement concluded.
