The United Nations refugee agency has "a strong partnership" with and "is grateful" to Turkey for its help, UNHCR chief Filippo Grandi tweeted on Wednesday during a visit to Ankara.
"Today I was received by President Erdogan for a discussion on solutions for Syrian refugees in Turkey and in the region and on the need to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan," read the tweet.
"UNHCR is grateful for its strong partnership with Turkey in both endeavours," the tweet added.
Turkey is working with Qatar to re-open Kabul airport - a move seen as crucial to getting humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, where over half the population urgently needs help, according to the UN.
