An Uzbek leader from the Islamic State jihadist group was killed in a US-led coalition air raid in the northern Syrian town of Raqqa, activists from a UK-based monitor said Wednesday.
The unnamed Uzbek IS leader died in a drone strike against a car he was travelling in, the Syrian Human Rights Observatory activists said on Twitter.
The Uzbek was allegedly responsible for security in Raqqa, the 'capital' of IS's self-declared caliphate encompassing swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria.
The Syrian Human Rights Observatory relies for its information on a network of activists and doctors inside Syria.
