Pope Francis will visit Africa from 25-30 November including the Central African Republic as well as Kenya and Uganda, the Vatican press office said on Monday, issuing an updated version of the papal schedule.
The planned papal trip to Central African Republic had appeared to be in doubt recently because of a wave of violence that has hit the country.
The army fought Muslim Seleka rebels on Saturday in the town of Sibut after an ultimatum for them to halt their march southwards towards the capital Bangui expired.
A total of 77 people were killed and more than 400 injured in a surge of violence in Bangui that began in late September, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said at the weekend.
