European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen will meet Italy's president Giuseppe Conte in Rome "in the next few days" for a meeting that will focus on the European Union's 750 billion euro recovery fund, Conte wrote on social media during a visit to Brussels on Thursday.
Von der Leyen and Conte and Conte will also discuss the Next Generation EU recovery plan approved in July, Conte said.
Conte had "an excellent meeting" in Brussels on Thursday with von der Leyen on the sidelines of a European leaders' summit, he wrote.
Italy is set to be one of the main beneficiaries of the EU fund to help nations recover from the ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic. It stands to receive up to 209 billion euros from the fund by 2023 to spend on infrastructure, the green economy, education and other priority areas.
