The next World Expo, now to take place in Dubai in 2021, will be an opportunity to re-launch coronavirus-ravaged Italy's business, creative, scientific and higher education sectors, the foreign ministry tweeted on Monday.
"Dubai: the necessary numbers have been reached in favour of a postponement until 2021. For Italy, World Expo will be a major chance to re-launch regions, creative industries, artistic talent, scientific research and universities," read the tweet.
The necessary two-thirds of countries on Monday voted to approve Kuwait's request to delay World Expo until October next year, the Paris-based Bureau International des Expositions, the organisation behind the event, announced.
