US President Donald Trump has announced his decision to sue the New York Times for defamation after the newspaper wrote about his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In a post on Truth Social, the US president said he had "the great honor of filing a $15 billion defamation and libel lawsuit" against "one of the worst and most degenerate newspapers in the history of our Country".
In his long post, Trump accuses the New York Times of being biased, in favor of the Democrats. "They have been allowed to lie, defame me and slander me freely for far too long," he added.
