Brazil ''has given the world a lesson in democracy'' with the prison sentence issued against former president Jair Bolsonaro. This was stated by Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. "Without too much fanfare, the Brazilian judicial system demonstrated its strength, it was not intimidated by external threats and conducted an exemplary process," Lula declared.
"For the first time in 500 years of this country's history, someone has been imprisoned for an attempted coup. A former President of the Republic and four four-star generals have been arrested, demonstrating that democracy is a right for everyone. Democracy is not a privilege for anyone, it is a right for 250 million Brazilians," Lula emphasized.
