Neither Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian nor the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic Abbas Araghchi will attend the summit in Egypt. Tehran's diplomacy confirms this. This morning, to the Iranian agency Irna, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baghaei, explained that despite the invitation to Iran to participate in the "signing ceremony of a ceasefire agreement to end" the conflict in Gaza, the Islamic Republic does not intend to participate.

The spokesperson insisted on Iran's position, confirming what had already been expressed via X in recent hours by the head of Iranian diplomacy, who had specified that Iran "is grateful for the invitation from (Egyptian) President al-Sisi to participate in the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit."

"While prioritizing diplomatic engagement, neither I nor President Pezeshkian can confront counterparts who have attacked the Iranian people and continue to threaten and strike us with sanctions," Araghchi wrote, reiterating that Iran "welcomes any initiative that ends Israel's genocide in Gaza and guarantees the expulsion of occupation forces."
