Italy's overseas aid agency AICS is donating 1.5 million euros to the Red Cross in war-devastated Syria, AICS tweeted on Tuesday.
"(The) Italian (Agency for Development) Cooperation supports the assistance, protection, prevention and cooperation activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Syria with a contribution of 1,5 million euros," read the tweet.
Some 83% of Syria's population is now living in poverty after the almost-decade-long conflict ravaged its economy, which has been further impacted by lockdown measures to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
