The Italian government has nominated a new ambassador to China, career diplomat Luca Ferrari, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
Ferrari, 58, a political sciences graduate from the University of Rome, was in 2016 appointed envoy to Saudi Arabia, the statement said.
Ferrari entered the diplomatic service in 1986 and has served in Moscow, Washington DC and Madrid, as well as at the foreign ministry in Rome, according to the statement.
