The death toll from the devastating floods that have hit Texas has risen to over 100, as rescuers continue the difficult search for those missing, swept away by the water. Among the dead are at least 27 girls and counselors who were at a Christian summer camp along the Guadalupe River, overwhelmed during the weekend of July 4th. The hardest hit area is Kerr County, with at least 84 victims, including 28 children.

Governor Greg Abbott warned that the death toll could rise, with new rains expected on already saturated ground. President Donald Trump, who will visit the state on Friday, has signed a major disaster declaration to unlock federal funds, calling the floods a "once-in-a-century catastrophe" that "no one expected".
