According to the latest data released Wednesday by the World Health Organization (WHO), citing Congolese health authorities, the Ebola epidemic has so far caused 1,001 victims in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda, exceeding one thousand.

In the DRC, since the beginning of the epidemic in mid-May, 999 deaths and 2,473 confirmed cases have been recorded, as reported by the WHO in an update on July 20. The death toll in neighboring Uganda remains at two, with 20 confirmed cases. In Kampala, authorities announced last week that they no longer have active cases.
