At least four people drowned and another 23 were reported missing when a migrant boat with 31 people on board capsized off Turkey, the state-run Anadolou news agency reported on Thursday.
The boat overturned four nautical miles off the island of Kara Ada after setting sail from Bodrum in eastern Mugla province, Anadolou cited unnamed security sources as saying.
A total of 302,149 migrants and refugees entered Europe by sea in 2016 through 25 September, arriving mostly in Greece and Italy, while 3,501 died making the journey, the International Organisation for Migration said on Tuesday.
