Italian authorities expelled a Slovak citizen who featured on a register of alleged foreign fighters, the interior ministry announced late Wednesday.
The 28-year-old man was deported upon his release from prison and was the 70th suspected jihadist to be expelled from Italy this year and the 307th since January 2015, the ministry said.
The suspect is accused of recruiting militants to carry out acts of international terrorism and of travelling to Syria in 2014 to fight alongside the Islamic state jihadist group, according to the ministry.
He was subsequently extradited to Italy amid an international anti-terror probe and held in jail under close surveillance.
