An Armenian belly dancer who was jailed after she performed wearing a red, white and black costume - the colours of the Egyptian flag - has won an appeal against her sentence, daily Al-Ahram said on Monday.
Sofinar Gourian, whose stage name is Safinaz, was sentenced to six months in prison in April for "insulting" the Egyptian flag during the performance in Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea.
Her lawyer claims she was reported to authorities in revenge act by former employer.
An Egyptian belly dancer and a singer were arrested and imprisoned in Cairo pending trial on charges of "inciting obscenity, spreading depravity and shameful acts," the Arabic Youm7 website reported in late July.
The belly dancer, Bardis and the singer, Shakira, were arrested after video clips featuring the women wearing skimpy dresses and girating their hips were posted to the internet, Youm7 said.
The two women were detained Qanatir jail outside Cairo.
