During a visit to Naples on Tuesday, Italy's premier Mario Draghi met a group of refugees from war-wracked Ukraine who are being helped by volunteers from the Community of Saint Gennaro Foundation, Draghi's office said in a statement.
Draghi met the Ukrainian refugees at the Basilica Santa Maria della Sanità, together with auxiliary bishop of Naples Franco Beneduce, Ukraine's Consul Kavalenko Maksym and Father Antonio Loffredo, according to the statement.
Over 70,000 refugees have arrived in Italy since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February. A total of over 3.9 million people have fled the fighting in their country including half its children, according to the United Nations.
