France's president Emmanuel Macron will attend a bilateral summit in Naples on Thursday, showing "trust" in coronavirus-hit Italy, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio stated on Wednesday.
"Tomorrow the Italy-France summit will take place in Naples with president Macron in attendance and this shows the trust that other states place in Italy," Di Maio wrote on Facebook."
Italy's premier Giuseppe Conte and Macron will chair Thursday's summit being held at the 18th-century Palazzo Reale in Naples.
After South Korea, Italy is the country with the highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases outside China - 374 with 12 deaths. Economists have warned the disruption caused by the coronavirus outbreak whose epicentre is in the wealthy north of the country may tip Italy back into another recession - its fourth since 2008.
Believed to have originated from wildlife in the Chinese city of Wuhan late last year, the coronavirus has infected 80,000 people in 27 countries.
The vast majority of cases have been in China, where the virus has killed nearly 2,700 people.
