The Italian government has deplored the missile and drone attacks launched against the United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi, which killed three people, warning the act could impact regional stability.
"Italy expresses worry at the attacks on the Musaffah industrial area near Abu Dhabi and its solidarity with the victims' families and the UAE government," said a foreign ministry statement on Monday.
"It strongly condemns an act that, fuelling the spiral of violence, may have repercussions on the entire region's stability," the statement continued.
Attacks against civilian targets jeopardise prospects for resumed peace talks aimed at ending the seven-year-old conflict in Yemen, the statement underlined.
"We fully support such talks and reaffirm our complete confidence in efforts towards a negotiated solution (to Yemen's conflict), being pursued by UN special envoy (Hans) Grundberg," the statement added.
The UAE has been part of a Saudi-led military campaign against the Houthi rebels in Yemen since 2015.
