Ukraine's government is studying a peace plan forged by Italy that aims to end Russia's 12-week-long invasion of the country, the Kiev Independent cited foreign minister Oleh Nikolenko as saying on Friday.
The Italian blueprint submitted to United Nations chief Antonio Guterres proposes local truces to evacuate civilians along 'humanitarian corridors' and building the conditions for a general ceasefire leading “to a long-lasting peace," foreign minister Luigi Di Maio said at a Council of Europe meeting in Venaria near Turin.
Italy was concluding its presidency of the Council of Europe human rights and democracy and handing over the role to Ireland.
