Scientific experts at Italy's embassies have risen by over a fifth in 2020, an increase that will aid the country's scientific development and technological innovation, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio said on Friday.
"Scientific staff at Italy's embassies around the world have increased by around 23 percent this year," Di Maio said at an event in Rome organised by the Italian Innovation Society.
The strengthening of expert embassy staff will yield positive results in promoting Italian science and industry, Di Maio claimed.
"We will keep increasing the number of experts in order to boost Italy's growth through technological innovation," Di Maio underlined.
Scientific staff at Italy's embassies have the role of nurturing cooperation between countries in the areas of research and innovation.
