Career diplomat Rita Giuliana Mannella has been appointed Italy's new ambassador to Sri Lanka, Italy's foreign ministry said on Thursday.
Mannella, who graduated in law from the University of Pisa in 1984, has held previous overseas postings in New Delhi and New York and was made a Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2000.
