Italy's ambassador to Tunisia Lorenzo Fanara and foreign minister Othman Jerandi held "excellent" talks on Wednesday that focussed on bilateral ties and illegal migration, the foreign ministry tweeted.
"Excellent meeting with Foreign Minister Jerandi that took stock of strategic bilateral relations, on the fight against illegal immigration," read the tweet.
"The talks underlined Italy's strong commitment to Tunisia's stability and security," the tweet added.
Fanara also held "fruitful" talks on Wednesday with Tunisia's environment minister Moustafa Aroui, the ministry tweeted separately.
