Italy's government has okayed three million euros of funds to support a United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation project to develop sustainable use of water resources in Somalia, the foreign ministry said on Thursday.
The grant will fund the Somali Water and Land Information Management Project Phase VI, whose specific objective is to strengthen early warning and response mechanisms and build resilence in the drought-prone country, the ministry said.
"This shows that The Horn of Africa is a priority for Italian overseas aid," deputy foreign minister Emanuela Del Re.
