Top Italian private higher education institution Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore now has an annual research budget of over 30 million euros, of which 90 percent is sourced externally, and the university is investing 500,000 euros a year on special projects.
The Cattolica is currently funding 12 such special research projects across three main areas: migration and migrants, adaptation to climate change, disability inclusion and healthy ageing.
Research at the Cattolica is carried out in its 147 research centres, which include 35 institutes, 82 centres and 30 departments.
In 2017 alone 728 research projects were being carried out at the university with a total budget of over 57.8 million euros.
