United States secretary of state Antony Blinken has praised foreign minister Luigi Di Maio for the leadership he has shown during the Coronavirus pandemic and Italy's G20 presidency in 2021.
"As G20 president this year, Italy is helping rally the world behind a strong, effective response to the COVID-19 pandemic," read the tweet.
"I spoke with @luigidimaio and thanked him for his leadership to address this challenge and help the world prepare for future global health security threats."
