Italy's foreign minister Luigi Di Maio had a telephone conversation with his Bulgarian counterpart Ekaterina Zaharieva, the foreign ministry said in a statement in English on Wednesday.
Italy has been sourcing protective medical gear and ventilators from all over the world in a bid to battle the country's dramatic coronavirus outbreak that has killed 13,155 people and infected 110,574 since it began in late February.
The foreign ministry has also been negotiating with various countries to repatriate stranded Italians after many blocked international flights and closed their borders amid the coronavirus pandemic.
