War-torn Libya, international cooperation on COVID-19 and economic recovery from the pandemic and climate change were at the centre of phone talks on Tuesday between Italy's premier Mario Draghi and United Nations secretary-general Antonio Guterres.
"The conversation was focused on the main global issues, also in the framework of the Italian G20 Presidency: international cooperation in the fight against pandemic, climate change, economic and social recovery with special attention to the most vulnerable countries," read a statement from Draghi's office.
"Views on the main international crises were also shared, with a particular focus on Libya," the statement added.
Italy has sought to play a major role in international efforts to stabilise Libya - its former colony - where an interim unified government took power last month, tasked with leading the country to December polls.
