The foreign ministry and the association of Italian Scientists and Scholars in North America have teamed up to raise more over 200,000 dollars for several centres in Italy that are doing key research on the Covid-19 novel coronavirus
"Our @gofundme campaign #ItalyStayStrong with @issnaf already raised more than $200,000 to help 3 medical and research centres in #Italy at the forefront of the fight against the #coronavirus pandemic," the foreign ministry tweeted.
Italy has recorded almost 205,500 cases of Covid-19 since January - the third highest global tally behind the United States and Spain and almost 28,000 fatalities - the highest death-toll in the world after the United States.
