Italy and Canada want to bolster their bilateral relations, premier Mario Draghi's office said on Wednesday after he held phone talks with Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau that centred on the battle against COVID-19 and global recovery from the devastating pandemic.
Draghi and Trudeau's talks focused on "the common fight against the pandemic, with particular reference to the intensification of the respective vaccination campaigns," said the statement.
The phone-call also covered effective, sustainable and inclusive economic and social recovery from the Coronavirus pandemic, also in the framework of this year's Italian presidency of the Group of Twenty (G20), the statement continued.
"The two heads of government shared the desire to further strengthen their bilateral relations, building on the large and well-integrated Italian community in Canada," the statement concluded.
