Libya is the top priority for Italy, which is working on the ground there to ensure "an inclusive and legitimate electoral process" ahead of key polls on 24 December, according to foreign minister Luigi Di Maio.
"Libya is the number-one priority for Italy", Di Maio said at an event in Rome on Thursday to launch the new Decode39 geopolitics website which offers analysis from Italy in English and Arabic.
It is crucial to Libya's path towards stable democracy that 24 December elections called for by a United Nations backed peace process go ahead, Di Maio argued.
"Italy is working for an inclusive and legitimate electoral process in Libya," he underlined.
