United Nations-brokered peace talks between Libya's warring factions will re-start in Morocco next Wednesday, the Libyan news website Alwasat reported.

Alwasat cited unnamed sources at the elected parliament based in Libya's eastern city of Tobruk as saying the talks would resume in the Moroccan coastal resort of Skhirat.

The parliament will sit on Monday to choose new representatives to the talks, according to the sources.

UN envoy to Libya Bernardino Leon said on Wednesday that consultations would continue "in the coming days" after the Tobruk parliament rejected, without voting, the UN's proposal for a transitional unity government.

Leon said that hard-liners had blocked a vote on the peace plan in the parliament on Tuesday but that he was hopeful the vote would go forward soon.

"Small groups" of political leaders could not block a dialogue and a unity government, he said.

Both Tobruk and the rival Islamist-backed government in Tripoli have rejected parts of the UN draft deal to form a national unity government that proposes a six-member executive council to lead it.
