A total 153 Italians returned to Italy from Turkey on Friday aboard a flight organised by Italy's diplomatic network, the foreign ministry tweeted.
"Italy's network of consulates in Turkey has arranged a flight to repatriate our fellow citizens. Our thanks to Turkish Airlines and the Turkish authorities for their excellent cooperation," read the tweet.
The foreign ministry has been seeking to bring home thousands of Italians who were stranded abroad when the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic struck in recent months, prompting countries to halt international flights and closed their borders.
