Qatar has pledged to donate two 500-bed field hospitals to Italy to help the country handle its dramatic Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio tweeted on Tuesday.
"Qatar has responded to an appeal by the foreign ministry and will give Italy two 500-bed field hospitals," read the tweet.
"Thanks to our diplomatic network and our relations with other states, we are bringing medical supplies, equipment and staff from abroad.
Di Maio and his staff have been sourcing protective medical gear, diagnostic kits and ventilators from all over the world to help counter the Covid-19 outbreak in Italy. A US charity set up a 68-bed field hospital in Cremona and several countries have sent doctors and nurses-
