Five rockets allegedly launched from Syria by Islamic State militants killed three Syrian children and a Syrian adult Monday in southern Turkey and injured six other civilians, according to Turkish media reports.
The Katyusha rockets hit a residential area in the Kilis border area, daily Hurriyet said.
The rockets were fired from the IS-controlled Bab region in northern Syria, according to the Turkish military.
Turkish artillery units retaliated by shelling IS positions near the border, where security has been raised to maximum levels. There are heightened tensions in the area over the ongoing rocket attacks which killed two people and wounded 18 last week.
A total of 362 IS militants had been killed in cross-border fire, Turkish defence minister Ismet Yılmaz said during a visit to Kilis on 13 April.
