Three Tajiks were among seven Islamic State militants killed by Syrian war planes in the eastern city of Deir Ezzor, a monitor said Wednesday.
'Several' Syrian troops were also killed in the air raids in Deir Ezzor, where IS has been advancing amid violent clashes between pro-government forces and the jihadist group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
IS fighters have overrun Deir Ezzor's industrial area and several neighbourhoods and are getting close to its air base, said the UK-based watchdog.
The IS-affiliated Amaq news agency also confirmed the group had seized Deir Ezzor's industrial area late Tuesday, tightening the noose on the government-held enclave.
IS controls nearly all the surrounding oil-rich province of Deir Ezzor, which borders Iraq.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights relies for its information on a network of activists and medics in Syria.
