Two Islamic State 'emirs' were killed near the northern Iraqi town of Makhmour by landmine planted by the militant group, local broadcaster Rudaw reports.
The roadside bomb was triggered by an IS convoy as it passed though the village of Kharbadan by on Thursday, killing the group's administrator in the area, named as Abu Malik, and another IS commander named as Abu abdul-Aziz, Rudaw said.
The landmine had been intended for the Peshmerga, its commander in Makhmour, Ali Hussain, was quoted as telling Rudaw.
In recent weeks, US-led coalition have pounded IS bases on the Mekhmour front-lines, southeast of Mosul, capital of Niveveh province, where the town in located.
IS overran Mosul in June last year.
