Foreign minister Luigi Di Maio is "a friend" and Ukraine fully supports the ceasefires proposed in Italy's plan to end Russia's three-month-old invasion, his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba said on Wednesday.
"Foreign minister Luigi di Maio is as friend and in principle I am not opposed to anything proposed by a friend," Kuleba told reporters at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
"We welcome any kind of plan that does not foresee the creation of another contact-line or concessions by Ukraine on its sovereignty," Kuleba added.
"We are willing to discuss anything else," Kuleba underlined.
He was answering a question from reporters on Italy's peace plan to end Russia's three-month-old offensive in Ukraine.
Ukraine's government "supports 100% the need for a ceasefire and we appreciate every diplomatic effort," Kuleba noted.
The Italian blueprint proposes local truces to evacuate civilians along 'humanitarian corridors' and building the conditions for a general ceasefire leading “to a long-lasting peace," Di Maio said at a Council of Europe meeting in Venaria near Turin last week.
