SAINT PETERSBURG, Russia, April 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Gazpromneft-Aero, the operator of the Gazprom Neft aviation fuel business, has acquired 50% of Omsk Refueling Complex (Central) LLC from JSC Omsk Airport. This is Gazpromneft-Aero's fifth asset in Russia's Siberian region. The company already refuels aircraft at its own refueling complexes in Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Kemerovo and Krasnoyarsk.
Gazpromneft-Aero plans to equip the complex with new technology and to implement modern refuelling quality standards that comply with IATA. The priority projects to upgrade refuelling complex infrastructure planned by Gazpromneft-Aero up to 2017 include the modernization of the fleet of refuelling equipment at the complex and the installation of new equipment to check fuel quality.
Gazpromneft-Aero is one of the largest Russian investors in refuelling infrastructure at the airports where it operates. In 2013, capital investment in modernizing the refuelling complex exceeded around 80 million USD, and the company plans to increase this figure this year. Modernizing infrastructure at Omsk Refuelling Complex will make it possible to offer refueling services in compliance with the best international practices and up-to-date standards for efficiency and safety.
"Gazpromneft-Aero's development strategy involves expanding its business in Russian airports, where trans-Siberian routes from Europe to Asia pass through," Gazpromneft-Aero General Director Vladimir Yegorov said. "By making significant investment in the development of our new assets, and specifically the refuelling complex in Omsk, we are creating modern infrastructure to offer airlines a high level of service. Direct deliveries from Gazprom Neft's Omsk Oil Refinery will allow us to guarantee the supplies."
Based on the results of 2013, Gazpromneft-Aero has confirmed its status as the leader on the Russian aviation fuel market in terms of retail sales volume. The total volume of the company's aviation fuel sales amounted to 3.4 million tons, of which more than 2.2 million tons were fuelled "in-wing" - up 16% from 2012. The company also has the largest distribution network in the Russian market, which includes 37 fuelling complexes.
Gazpromneft-Aero has been a strategic partner of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in supplying aviation fuel since December 2008. Gazpromneft-Aero leads Russia's aviation fuel market in terms of retail sales volume. The Company operates at 44 Russian airports and uses technology in compliance with the highest IATA: Green fuel operations safety levels.
