Qatar has confirmed that one of its soldiers was killed in Yemen in a military operation against Shia Houthi rebels by the Saudi-led coalition
Qatar's foreign minister Khalid bin Mohammed al-Attiyah announced the solider's death on Twitter but did not state how he had died.
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar in September deployed troops in the strategic oil- and gas-rich province of Marib, which supplies electricity to various parts of Yemen.
Marib lies to the east of the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, which was seized by the Iran-backed Houthis in September last year.
The United Nations says that around 5,000 people have been killed in the air campaign launched in March by the Saudi-led coalition in support of Yemen's president Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi.
