Italy stands ready to help Spain and France as new lockdowns loom in the two countries amid surges in Coronavirus infections, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio wrote Monday on Facebook.
"In Europe, there are countries that are still suffering. Above all Spain and France, which risk new lockdowns. They have had a fresh spike of infections and victims," he wrote.
"The Italian people sends utmost solidarity and closeness to our Spanish and French friends. As a government, we will give maximum help and support. We will make available our knowledge and tools," the post went on.
"Europe must always show solidarity," the post underlined.
Earlier this year, Italy was the first country in Europe to experience a COVID-19 epidemic. It has recorded over 36,000 deaths and over 311,360 cases of the respiratory diseas.
The United Nations World Health Organisation praised Italy last week for its strict month-long lockdown which brought its dramatic Coronavirus outbreak under control.
