Italy's foreign minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi , had an "in-depth" meeting in Brussels on Monday with his Spanish counterpart Josep Borrell, according to a foreign ministry statement.
"The Ministers had an in-depth exchange of views on the main topics of European current affairs, as well as on the solid bilateral cooperation between the two Countries," said the statement.
Moavero's "long" meeting with Borrell took place on the sidelines of a European Union Foreign Affairs Council summit, said the statement.
Mondays' Foreign Affairs Council agenda included the 28-member bloc's global strategy, common foreign and security policy and the political standoff in Sudan between its ruling transitional military junta and a coalition of pro-democracy protesters and opposition parties.
Borell is also Spain's minister for European Union and Spanish Cooperation.
