Albania's prime minister Edi Rama tweeted thanks to his Italian counterpart Giuseppe Conte and foreign minister Luigi Di Maio for their "great humanity" after his talks with them in Rome on Thursday.
"Heartfelt thanks to Giuseppe Conte and Luigi Di Maio for the great humanity that sets you apart in the eyes of Albania at this difficult time after November's earthquake," read the tweet.
"Without Italy and your huge readiness to help us these difficulties would be insurmountable," the tweet added.
Italian rescuers were scrambled to Albania immediately after the magnitude 6.4 quake that struck the northwest of the country on 26 November, killing 52 people and leaving round 5,200 people homeless.
Italy is a strong supporter of NATO member Albania's bid to join the European Union.
