Italy's premier urged Europe to help the Coronavirus-ravaged country recover from the massive hit to its economy caused by its dramatic COVID-19 outbreak this year.
"If Italy is stronger, Europe will be stronger. We cannot have a Europe that functions at different speeds,"Conte told 'Stasera Italia News'.
"So Italy absolutely must recover quickly," he said.
Conte was speaking ahead of talks in The Hague late on Wednesday with his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutter, as he continues a tour of European capitals ahead of the 17-18 July European leaders' summit in Brussels.
At next week's summit, Italy and Spain have called for European Union heads of state and government to agree on a proposed 750 billion euro rescue package to help the bloc's economies rebuild in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
All 27 EU countries need to agree on the proposed rescue fund made up of 500 billion euros in grants and 250 billion euros in loans.
