Italy and other nations are gravely concerned at the impact that Russia's "unjustifiable" 108-day-old war in Ukraine poses to Africa's food security, according to foreign minister Luigi Di Maio.
"The African continent's food security appears seriously compromised by the conflict in Ukraine," Di Maio said in Addis Ababa on Monday during a visit to Ethiopia.
In a sign of Italy's determination to tackle the effects of the growing world food crisis, the first Mediterranean ministerial dialogue meeting took place in Rome last week, Di Maio recalled.
''Italy is at the forefront of the fight against the food crisis. It is the umpteeth sign that no country is immune from Moscow's "unjustifiable" military offensive," Di Maio stated.
