Italian actor, poet and artist Remo Remotti has died in his native Rome aged 90, it was announced on Monday.
Remotti began his acting career in the theatre in the early 1970s and went on to work with many top film directors including Francis Ford Coppola, Marco Bellocchio, Nanni Moretti and Ettore Scola.
Remotti will also be remembered for his autobiographical song 'Mamma Roma Addio', inspired by Pier Paolo Pasolini's 1962 neo-realist movie 'Mamma Roma' starring Anna Magnani as a middle-aged prostitute who attempts to change her life for the sake of her son.
