Italy's newly appointed consul in Benghazi, Carlo Batori, has postponed his arrival in the eastern port city after testing positive for Coronavirus, the embassy in Tripoli tweeted on Tuesday.
Batori had been due to take up his post in Benghazi on Wednesday but has now delayed his journey, according to the tweet.
Di Maio in April announced Batori's nomination and the re-opening of Italy's consulate in Benghazi. It was closed in 2013 after gunmen attempted to kill consul Guido De Sanctis on 12 January that year.
