Italy is eager to host the Expo world trade fair in Rome in 2030 and has the credentials to do so, foreign minister Luigi Di Maio said on Wednesday.
"We are ready and determined to play a leading role in Expo 2030, for which Rome is a candidate," Di Maio said.
He was speaking during an address at Italy National Day at Dubai Expo, during a two-day visit to the Emirate.
"Italy's presence here in Dubai resonates with the legacy of Expo Milan 2015 and forms the perfect bridge to Expo Osaka 2025 and beyond," Di Maio went on.
Italy's participation in Expo 2020 Dubai comes amid "wide-ranging political and diplomatic dynamism" that this year has seen the country play a high-profile global role as G20 president, Di Maio underlined.
