The Lord's mercy extends to everybody and the Catholic Church turns no one away, Pope Francis said in a new tweet on Thursday.
"No one can be excluded from the mercy of God. The Church is the house where everyone is welcomed and no one is rejected," Francis tweeted. His @Pontifex account has more than 22 million followers.
The tweet was the latest in a series of teachings to mark the Jubilee Year of Mercy, during which Catholics worldwide are encouraged to renew their relationship with God and seek forgiveness for their sins.
Earlier on Thursday, Francis said the Christian faith never let believers down.
"Christian hope never disappoints and does not let us drown in life's difficulties," the pontiff said in a sermon as he celebrated mass at the Vatican's Santa Marta residence.
