Salafite gunmen attacked workers entering the headquarters of the Man-made River Administration in Libya's eastern port city of Benghazi before fleeing, the Libyan Observer reported on Thursday, citing local sources.
The attack at the MMRA heaquarters in Benghazi's Hawari district was related to employment issues and the gunmen included members of the Tariq Ibn Ziad Salafite battalion, the sources said. The report did not state if there were any casualties from the attack.
The Great Man-Made River is a key network of pipes supplying high-quality fresh water from ancient underground aquifers deep in the Sahara to the coast of Libya for domestic use, agriculture, and industry.
